Thank You for Your Unconditional Love

Thank you so much for blessing me as only you can. I love you with every fiber of my being. I feel as though I am the only one in your mind’s eye. The love you have showered upon me is too amazing to put into words.

As I sit back and count my blessings, as you have instructed me to do, I feel you easing me into my soft girl era. Throughout my life, many of your lessons have centered on “perspective.” As human beings, we often gravitate toward the “negative” aspects of an experience. When something doesn’t meet our expectations, we tend to label it as bad and cast it away. But through your love and guidance, I am learning to let life touch every aspect of me. I now understand that to truly get “over” something, we must march “through” it.

As I move to the other side of my journey—retrieving my crown of glory and embracing the reward of lessons learned—I can now celebrate the trials and tribulations that have shaped me. Every step has been a blessing, even when it didn’t feel like one at the time. Each challenge has brought me closer to the woman you have destined me to be.

Embracing Black Girl Magic

In this season of reflection, I think about the beauty and power of Black Girl Magic. It’s the ability to persevere, overcome, and thrive in ways that often seem impossible. But once we’ve achieved so much, the question arises: What is there left to do? As the BIBLE—Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth—reminds us, there is nothing new under the sun. You have made us to prosper and commissioned us to be fruitful and multiply.

A Legacy of Strength and Love

I am reminded of the words of Pastor Margo Gross: “My Mother’s Shoes Don’t Fit.” That message resonates deeply with me. On that beautiful day, I sat between my mother and my daughter, reflecting on the legacy we share. My mother, the youngest of her siblings and the first to attend integrated schools, has WON. She retired from a distinguished career in the federal government, paving the way for me to follow in her footsteps. Now, my daughter carries this torch as a federal civilian and a PhD student.

Being in the middle of this lineage, it’s my honor to cultivate the life my mother started and my daughters will grow. Each generation builds on the sacrifices of the last, and together, we create a legacy of resilience, love, and achievement.

A Call for Guidance and Support

Today, parents, I come to you with humility and gratitude, asking for your continuous guidance, love, and support. It is through your example that I find strength, and it is through your wisdom that I am able to lead my family forward. Thank you for walking this journey with me, for loving me unconditionally, and for reminding me that everything—even the trials—is a blessing.
